About the Show Star...
A little bit about the STAR...
The East Texas Show Star Series is a series of specie-specific clinics and prospect shows created to provide 'hands-on' educational opportunities for 4-H and FFA members to learn the basic principles of livestock management in relation to: project selection, facility maintenance, animal health, nutrition, handling, showmanship, and transportation. These opportunities are bolstered by the discussion of the "Quality Counts" program and principles; thereby, ensuring the safe, legal and ethical use of pharmaceutical products and chemicals in the development and exhibition of livestock projects.
Youth participating in this two day event will work with and exhibit their own animals in the show ring to continuously provide as much 'hands-on' learning as possible. Both the parents and the youth will also receive the benefits of learning from esteemed educators and top industry leaders in the exhibition animal world. Every youth attending this event will leave with a wealth of education; however, they will also be rewarded with prizes and items they can used in the development of their livestock projects.

Plans are currently underway...
This year's event will be our 4th annual series of animal clinics and prospect shows. Rest assured, that the planning for the 2012 East Texas Show Star Series is currently well under way. We listened to the suggestions made on last year's participant surveys and are in the process of doing all we can, where we can to improve this year's event. So far, the biggest news for 2012 is that we will be incorporating a swine division into the Show Star, so please pass it around.
Check back here often to get the latest and most updated event information and also feel free to contact the event chairman or individual division chairs if you have specific questions. We can't wait to get 'back in Nac' on October 20 & 21, 2012...hope to see you there!
